Wasting Paper? Is it Worth it?
“The total generation of municipal solid waste (MSW) in 2018 was 292.4 million tons (U.S. short tons, unless specified) or 4.9 pounds per person per day," according to the U.S. EPA. Only 31% was recycled and compostable. Out of that 292.4 million (23.05%), paper products take up most of the waste that we throw away. This includes paper products such as single use napkins. On average Americans spend about $17.50 every month and around $210 or more each year on the purchase of single use paper napkins & towels. America every year spends nearly $5 billion dollars on single use paper napkins.
